At the Cas Di Cultura
Caribbean Sea Jazz Festival in Aruba for two full
nights of virtuoso performances
Dear jazz fans and good music lovers, you
thought that this year would go by without a soul music event. The truth
is we are having for the first time this August just for 2 days the
first annual
Caribbean Sea Jazz
Festival, in the weekend of 18th and 19th. The
Entertainment Group and Cas di Cultura have accepted the mission to give
the residents and guests of Aruba a high quality jazz event with the
best national, regional and international line-up possible.
Headlining the event is internationally-acclaimed, Grammy and Emmy-award
winning pianist and composer Michel Camilo. The artistry and virtuosity
of Michel Camilo bridges the genres of Jazz, Classical, Popular and
World music. He is a pianist with a brilliant technique and a composer
who flavors his tunes with the spice of Caribbean rhythms and jazz
harmonies.
The
Caribbean Sea Jazz Festival will pay a tribute to the late tenor
saxophonist and composer Michael Brecker and his work. He is an
eleventh-time Grammy-winner, and the only person to win both the "Best
Jazz Instrumental Performance" and "Best Jazz Instrumental Solo" awards
two years in a row. He passed away earlier this year. Delbert Bernabela
will form a group to do a tribute to Michael Brecker. Working in this
same concept of letting local bands covering their favorite band or
artist, Robert Jeandor and his Solo Banda Show will interpret Santana,
Antonio Bello Blues will be covering Eric Clapton, and JEMM will do
their version of songs by Sting. These groups are very enthusiastic and
they are working hard to give you two nights to remember. Randal Corsen
(piano) will be also present at the
Caribbean Sea Jazz Festival 2007.
The last time Randal performed here in Aruba, he came with a surprise
appearance. We are looking forward to what he will come up with this
time. For the first time in years, Aruba will experience great Caribbean
and Jazz music.
The
Caribbean Sea Jazz Festival is inspired by Paul Acket, the creator
of the North Sea Jazz Festival in The Netherlands, and the well-known
Aruba Jazz & Latin Music Festival, which took place from 1986 till 2001.
Aruba really enjoyed the success of this Festival and would like to have
a similar Festival take place once more.
