  •                       1999 ENTRY REQUIREMENTS!

Many people have been asking us about entry requirements for US citizens after hearing conflicting advice from various sources. To clear this up we asked the Department of Foreign Affairs to give us the nitty gritty. Visitors entering Aruba from the United States must have in their possession ONE of the following documents:

    1. A valid US passport
    2. A valid "laissez-passer" from the United Nations
    3. US citizens born in the U.S. must have a genuine (original-official state issued) birth certificate with a raised seal and photo ID
    4. US citizens born outside the U.S. must have a genuine (original) Certificate of Naturalization with a raised seal and a photo ID
    5. A resident of the U.S. (Non U.S. citizens) must have a re-entry permit or an Alien Registration Card (Green Card)

Food for thought....

According to Travel Management Daily, travelers from overseas who visit cultural attractions in the U.S. tend to stay longer and spend more, according to a new study by the Commerce Department's Tourism industries office and Taubman Centers, which develops and operates shopping centers.

The study called the group "culturalist shoppers" and found they book their trips further in advance than "general shoppers", stay nearly a week longer and visit more places. Compared with general shoppers, culturalist shoppers spend 23% more on food and beverages, 22% more on entertainment and 14% more on lodging.

New York and California are their favorite destinations. The data was gleaned from 48,882 traveler responses to the Commerce Department's ongoing in-flight survey of international airline passengers.
