The Fire
Department of Aruba is organizing their Fire Prevention Week"
As part
of their 25th anniversary of Fire Prevention Week, the Fire Department has
prepared a program focusing on the awareness of fire prevention.
The
program will run from October 2-9 with different activities such as
seminars at the local schools of Aruba, a parade consisting of all their vehicles,
activities for young people, special demonstration to the public and much more.
The week
will end with a church service at the St. Franciscus Catholic Church in Oranjestad. The
week will be dedicated to Mr. Juan Lopez, former chief of the Fire Department of Aruba.

Galeria Harmonia
Galeria
Harmonia will hold an exposition of the works of Colombian painter, Heiber
Saldarriaga, called Recuerdos (Memories).
The
opening of the exposition will take place on Sunday, October 1, at 8:00 PM at the Galeria
Harmonia in San Nicolas. The painter will be also present for inquiries.
The
exposition will remain open until October 20 and can be visited daily
from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM.

Aruban Jewish
Community preparing for Rosh Hashanah:
On
Friday, September 29, the Jewish Community of Aruba and the world celebrated a very
special holiday, Rosh Hashanah, marking the beginning of the year 5761.
The Rosh
Hashanah service took place on Friday, at 6:30 PM at the Beth Israel Synagogue.
ATA wishes the Jewish community of Aruba and worldwide a prosperous 5761.

Mr. Deepak Chopra
will present a Seminar to the Aruban Public
Mr.
Deepak Chopra, a renowned speaker on the healing of the human soul, mind and body
has been invited to give a seminar on Aruba on May 24, 2001.
The Local
Quota Club Chapter of Aruba extended the invitation to Mr. Chopra as part
of its yearly fundraising seminar.

will be available through Quota Club members, starting November 2000. Mark your

Commercial
Agreement with Argentina
Recently a delegation consisting of
representatives of the Department of Civil Aviation, Air Transport & External Affairs
and Ministry of Economic Affairs, Tourism, Social Affairs & Culture, together with ATA
Latin America Regional Director Mr. Mirto Granadillo and ATA Argentina
Director Mr. Marcos Sydor, Director ATA Argentina met with Argentinean
officials in areo-commercial meetings which culminated in the signing of the Memorandum
for Commercial Agreement.
The agreement will allow for mutually
beneficial economic results through the establishment of air connections through
Arubas new airport facilities for the transportation of passengers and as well as
the redistribution of Argentinean products within the Caribbean and North American region.
The agreement comes after nine years of discussion between Aruban and Argentinean
officials.

Vacation Express
to expand service to Aruba
One of Arubas most important U.S. tour operators, Vacation
Express, recently announced that they would expand their seasonal charter
service to Aruba to include winter travel from Atlanta and Louisville.
The Aruba charter service from both gateways, that was
originally scheduled to open in the spring, will accommodate the high Aruba demand from
the Atlanta and Louisville areas. The weekly flights to Aruba will depart
